1946-2010 Sixty Four Years of Festivals in Heaton Mersey

The Festival dates back to 1946 when it was founded by an enthusiastic group of wartime air-raid wardens as a Youth Eisteddford and was known as The Heaton Mersey Music Festival.

The principal aim of the Festival is to provide a public platform for performance in a friendly, relaxed yet competitive environment, thus developing personal confidence whilst striving for success. Equally important, all candidates know they will receive expert, unbiased and independent criticism of their efforts from carefully chosen, first class adjudicators who will ensure the mainenance of high standards.

The Heaton Mersey Youth Festival consists of six sections: Recorder, Piano, Strings, Vocal, Instumental, Speech and Drama

HMYF owns over 200 Cups/Trophies which are presented to our winners along with certificates and festive medal
